A blog about family, food and fun!

Welcome!

Welcome!

First off, hello! This blog has been on my mind for many years and I am finally getting around to starting it. My idea is to blend homemaking, cooking, child rearing and as much else I can with an emphasis on living within your means but still making the most out of life. My husband and I have known each other since elementary school but did not become a couple until much later in life. We have three beautiful kids ages 1, 3 and 18 as well as two dogs and live in the Pacific Northwest.

My husband and I started our journey into being as self-sufficient as possible many years ago with trying to cook all of our own meals from scratch.  We have some food sensitivities in our family and it is both cheaper easier to make our own food most of the time. Since then we have added two kids, moved from a tiny townhouse to an actual house with a real yard and we are finally able to grow our own food.

Our journey has been long and hard with many setbacks but we are excited to continue. This year we added two pear trees, a blueberry bush, and raspberries to our garden.  We plan on adding a second vegetable box in the near future as well as fencing off the front yard so we can plan where we want things a little better and to contain small children and dogs.  We have many ornamental plants left over from the previous owners that need new homes and once they are successfully transplanted we will continue to grow our edible garden.
